Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to join a well‑established team of environmental professionals at any of our office locations, including Edmonton, Calgary, Kamloops, Prince George, Terrace, or Vancouver, to fill the position of Senior/Intermediate Biologist (Wildlife).

Our multi-disciplinary team comprises environmental professionals specializing in aquatic and terrestrial biology, soil science, vegetation ecology, environmental assessment, environmental auditing, environmental monitoring/inspection, and resource management. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing resource specialist-level expertise to field staff and project management teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing technical wildlife leadership to collaborative project teams
  • Conducting of a broad variety of wildlife survey and sweep procedures
  • Herptile handling and relocation
  • Supervising and mentoring wildlife field staff
  • Planning, leading, and reporting phases for wildlife components of major projects
  • Leading and contributing to reporting and permitting deliverables
  • Representing Triton in correspondence with client representatives, contractors, and peers
  • Contributing to Triton’s collaborative, safety-conscious culture


Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • BSc. or M.Sc. in biology or related field
  • Biol., R.P.Bio., or equivalent registration with a professional regulatory body is required.
  • Minimum five years of experience leading wildlife surveys and sweeps, including breeding bird surveys, herptile surveys, and pre-construction wildlife and migratory bird nest sweeps
  • Demonstrated experience with specific wildlife capture and handling procedures, including herptile salvage
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Wildlife Species at Risk experience an asset
  • Effective technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with Provincial and Federal wildlife regulations and guidance materials
  • Ability to lead work in physically demanding remote field settings for extended durations, staying in a mix of camp and/or hotel accommodations
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient in the operation of off-highway vehicles
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
