Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Intermediate Vegetation Ecologists to join a well-established team of environmental professionals in one of our office locations including Edmonton, Calgary, Terrace, Prince George, Kamloops, or Vancouver.

THE ROLE


The successful candidate will work with our vegetation ecology team on a variety of vegetation-related field programs, such as:

  • Vegetation inventories
  • Weed surveys
  • Wetland assessments
  • Timber salvage assessments
  • Rare plant surveys
  • Re-vegetation planning
  • Habitat restoration

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in botany, plant ecology, biology, or a related field
  • P.Biol. or eligibility for registration with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists, Alberta Institute of Agrologists, College of Applied Biology, or similar
  • Minimum four years of experience as a vegetation ecologist, including leading crews
  • Exceptional plant identification skills, include wetland plants
  • Skilled in vegetation inventory methods
  • Superior knowledge of Alberta’s Wetland Policy and its associated directives
  • Extensive experience with wetland delineation and classification
  • Rare plant survey experience is an asset
  • Soil classification experience is an asset
  • Willingness to work in the field in remote locations
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Effective technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative working style
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Experience operating off-highway vehicles
