Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated IT Systems Administrator to take over the configuration, maintenance, and administration of our in-house network infrastructure, computers, printers, and cloud computing infrastructure and services. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with cloud-based enterprise networking solutions as well as legacy Windows network systems.

 

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for the administration and operations of Triton’s physical and virtual network infrastructure located across multiple offices in BC and Alberta. While the primary function of this position will be network operations focused, it may at time include providing help desk support to staff, including software/hardware installations, maintenance, repair, and deployment of new and refreshed laptop and desktop computer systems. Occasional overtime and travel may be required to set up or replace physical network equipment in Triton offices.

 

As a member of a small IT team, you will get to wear lots of hats and gain plenty of valuable experience providing IT services and support to all Triton offices and remote field locations throughout British Columbia and Alberta. This position reports to the IT Manager based in our Prince George office but the successful candidate may work out of any of our primary office locations (Vancouver, Kamloops, Prince George, Terrace, or Calgary), with working from home opportunities.

Our multi-disciplinary team comprises environmental professionals specializing in aquatic and terrestrial biology, soil science, vegetation ecology, environmental assessment, environmental auditing, environmental monitoring/inspection, and resource management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, manage, and administer network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, network segments, Intranet systems, and Internet systems.
  • Manage and administer the cloud storage network, users, security groups, and network shares.
  • Manage and administer firewalls and oversee network security.
  • Manage and administer user authentication using Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
  • Manage and administer various cloud services and instances.
  • Assist with the migration from in-house legacy Windows-based infrastructure to cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Install and test computer-related equipment and cloud systems/services.
  • Provide technical evaluation, management, negotiation, and communication with external providers to arrange purchases or leases of IT infrastructure and services.
  • Create and maintain master software images for deployment to company computers.
  • Respond to and resolve network level help desk requests.
  • Create, maintain, and document processes, procedures, and end-user training documents.
  • Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies.
  • Act as backup to other IT positions where training and experience will allow.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years' experience in system administration and network troubleshooting.
  • University degree or technical diploma in a computer-related field, or related experience.
  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials, AWS, Azure, or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification would be considered an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, (Azure AD, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) Azure, AWS, and other Windows-based technologies.
  • Experience deploying and managing Meraki MX security devices and access points.
  • Experience with JumpCloud or Microsoft Intune for identity and computer management.
  • Experience with Jamf Now, Egnyte, FileMaker, Sophos Central, Pulseway, ArcGIS Online would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to complete complex projects with minimal to no supervision.
  • Proven experience managing a medium-sized multi-office network environment.
  • Superior problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with both business and technical users.
  • Organized, adaptable, and ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks.
  • Self-motivated and willing to work outside of regular office hours to complete critical tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to respond to help desk requests after hours on a limited basis.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, twist, bend, and work in awkward positions.
