Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic wildlife biologist to join our team. Our existing projects encompass Western Canada and will provide the successful candidate with exciting and rewarding opportunities for career development. The selected applicant may be based out of any of our office locations, including Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta, Kamloops, Vernon, Prince George, Terrace, and Vancouver in BC.

THE ROLE


We are recruiting wildlife biologists to support existing projects. Primarily field based, the successful candidates will be responsible for delivering the field components of environmental projects and providing technical support to project management teams. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership on the wildlife components of our projects within a team environment
  • Provide mentorship to aspiring wildlife biologists
  • Plan and lead wildlife programs on major projects
  • Deliver tasks and scopes of work in accordance with approved budgets and schedules
  • Represent Triton in direct correspondence with on-site client representatives, contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Provide high quality and independent review for projects
  • Provide parsimonious, defensible environmental project advice to Triton clients within the bounds of project interest and the regulatory environment
  • Contribute and participate within Triton’s highly collaborative corporate culture

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology or related field
  • P.Biol., RPBio, or equivalent registration with a professional regulatory body
  • Minimum of five years experience for conducting wildlife and wildlife habitat surveys, include breeding bird surveys, amphibian survey, species-specific surveys and inventory, and pre-construction wildlife and migratory bird nest sweeps
  • Demonstrable experience with wildlife capture techniques and handling procedures, including amphibian salvage during pipeline construction phases
  • Demonstrated crew lead experience
  • Species at Risk experience an asset
  • Effective technical writing skills
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal wildlife regulations and guidance materials
  • Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment
  • Proven ability to lead a team in remote conditions for extended periods
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a proactive team environment
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
